Mexican Mule Two Ways

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the weekend!

Did you know that yesterday was National Tequila Day? I'm sure bartenders nation wide were slinging out margaritas as fast as their bottles could pour. Who wouldn't want to celebrate such a fantastic spirit? I know that I am always happy to have an excuse to enjoy a little tequila!

Not to worry if you did miss it! Here is your opportunity for a do-over. This is a super simple recipe for one of my favorite tequila cocktails, the Mexican Mule. It's a twist on the classic Moscow Mule, substituting tequila for vodka, and I've taken it up a notch by adding Crème de Cassis. I fell in love with this version while working at a tequila bar in Austin. So what better way to celebrate National Tequila Day (or weekend)? All you need is...

Ingredients:

2 oz Tequila

Ginger beer

1/2 lime

Crème de Cassis (optional)

 

How to make it:

Fill a tall glass with ice. Add 2 oz of Tequila. Top with ginger beer. Add the juice of half a lime, and garnish with a lime wedge. So easy, and so delicious!

To give it a bit of a sweet and tasty kick, add 1/2 oz of Crème de Cassis, and enjoy!
