I hope everyone's week has gotten off to a good start. I took the opportunity to organize and clean the house a bit yesterday. I've completely neglected it lately, and was in great need of a little TLC. I even worked up a new cleaning chart to help me keep up with everything. I'm am trying to get organized again and have been working on printouts for my planner. Super exciting, right?
Anyway, this weekend Keith and I managed to squeeze in some time at a local pumpkin patch and the first annual Kickin' Chicken Wing Fest. I must say, while the idea of a pumpkin patch is rather charming, sometimes the reality is a little less romantic. As we wandered with other pickers through a field littered with pumpkins, we couldn't help but wonder if all of these pumpkins were really grown here. The pile of pallets and empty boxes off to the side suggested that they were not. We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless, and came home with a lovely collection of pumpkins. We grabbed a couple of larger ones to carve up this week before Halloween. I can't wait!
After scoring some orange beauties, we headed down to the 17th Street Farmers Market to mingle with the masses at the Kickin' Chicken Wing Festival. There was quite a turnout for this salute to saucy flyers! Every food truck and tent had lines of folks waiting for their turn to get a mouthful of messy goodness. Lines so long, in fact, that we only managed to get two rounds of wings. The wings we got from the Bonbon truck were fantastic! We tried the Bonbon Wings and Spicy Asian Ginger, and they definitely hit the spot! I think Keith is inspired to make some Asian flavored wings this weekend, instead of the usual buffalo wings. I may need to work on a recipe to share!
